History

Springfield Place is a beautiful new seniors’ housing complex for residents of the R.M. of Springfield and area. Located in Oakbank on the site formerly occupied by the Municipal Office building and the Fire Department, the creation of the housing complex is the result of the co-operative effort on the part of four key stakeholders. It is because of support and work done by Manitoba Housing, the R.M. of Springfield, the Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority and the Oakbank-Springfield Kinsmen Seniors Complex Inc. Board of Directors, that Springfield Place has been able to meet the needs of a fast growing senior’s population in the municipality. Additionally, support and leadership for the development of the housing resource was provided by the United Churches of Oakbank and Dugald, the Springfield Age Friendly Committee, the Kinsmen Club of Oakbank, local and original seniors’ clubs and organizations and countless supportive residents of the Municipality.
